Hello again :) It seems that I am falling in love with air dry clay and coloring this natural material with dry pastels is so fun and the feeling is so childish... :)

I made some dome earrings. They are totally hand formed so their shape is nice but not 100% perfect, but this is that I love the most with them.

more air dry clay... bird necklace with embroidery thread

A few days ago my son ask me to make a small elephant pendant for his girl friend.

 I made this one with polymer clay, I don't have photos from the finished necklace to post but it was really very cute and actually it was the inspiration for my new bird pendants made from air dry clay :)

Although I am very happy with them and I love the thread addition, is a nice "spark" of color ... I have a dilemma .... chain or silk cord ? I wish for a quick decision in order to list them on my etsy shop... but I am afraid that usually I am not a "quick decision" person .... :)

Sure thing is that these days I am addicted  to air dry clay ... I love this material!!!  next project may be more colors for birds ... or fishes ? we'll see ...

New "kids" on my work space - air dry clay

Although I start my creating life making jewelry, my wish to do things with clay is still here and maybe stronger than ever because now I feel a little bit more confided.

Started with polymer clay which is a wonderful material with millions ways to work with, but I need to get in touch with natural material as well.  I hope that next autumn  I'll able ... at last... to attend seminars for making pottery. For now I am "playing" with dry air clay and it's really a great fun!

Making caps for a good cause! The "Caps for good" EGST meeting!

Yesterday we met atKangaroo craft store and made caps for the «Caps for Good» charity campaign.

We had a wonderful time! Drinking coffee and chatting, we made cute little caps for the newborn babies of the third world. Sofie from Kangaroo was a fantastic hostess! She offered us coffee, tea, cookies, donated the yarns for knitting... and gave us everything we needed... needles, tools, scissors...

"Caps for Good” is a grassroots initiative of the global humanitarian organization Save the Children and the "Warm Up America Foundation". The project seeks to engage knitters and crocheters to take action for the 4 million babies who die each year within the first month of life in poor countries.

Research shows that 50 percent of the 4 million newborn deaths that occur each year could be prevented if mothers and children in poor countries had access to a simple package of health measures। This package includes antibiotics to fight infections, immunizations, training for skilled birth attendants, education on breastfeeding and hygiene, and basic care such as keeping a baby warm by covering the head and carrying the baby skin-to-skin. America’s leaders could save millions of newborns by increasing international assistance for programs that offer these inexpensive life-saving tools.

Χειροποίητα Γούρια για το 2011 - Lucky Charms 2011

Επιτέλους μετα απο πολυυυυύ καιρό μία νέα ανάρτηση για το μπλογκ μου. Οχι οτι δεν είχα τίποτα να γράψω, αλλα ο χρόνος μου είναι τόσο περιορισμένος που ουτε εγώ δε "εμπαινα" στη σελιδα μου!!! 

Αυτη η χρονιά όμως τελειώνει, οχι τόσο ευχάριστα ή αισιόδοξα, σε ό,τι τουλάχιστον αφορά την γενική αίσθηση για όσα συμβαίνουν στη χώρα μας, μια νέα χρονιά έρχεται και όλοι προσπαθούμε να ελπίζουμε - παρά τις αντίθετες εκτιμησεις - ότι θα είναι καλύτερη.

Έστω λοιπόν και την τελευταία στιγμή, ετοίμασα τα γούρια του 2011.

Και ευτυχώς που είχα μπροστά μου το bazaar "Γεια στα Χερια ΜΑS" της ελληνικής ομάδας του Etsy, στο BOOZE COOPERATIVA διαφορετικά δεν ειμαι σίγουρη οτι θα είχα κινητοποιηθεί να τα φτιάξω ή θα τα είχα αναβάλλει και αυτά ενας Θεός ξερει για πότε... ισως για το 2012 :))) 

Νομίζω όμως ότι κάτι κατάφερα και αυτή τη φορά παρ' όλο που στην αρχή νόμιζα πως δεν θα προλάβω και δεν θα βρω νέες ιδέες ή υλικά που θα με εμπνεύσουν.

"Έπαιξα" και φέτος με τον πηλό, με υλικά που έχουν την αίσθηση του παλιού ή του φθαρμένου "vintage" , υφασμάτινα λουλουδάκια, αλλά και με τα ωραία γυάλινα μπουκαλάκια που από πέρσι ειχα αγοράσει μέσω Ιντερνετ και αρκετά φυσικά υλικά όπως κανελλες, αρωματικά φυτά, μπαχαρικά και αποξηραμένα πορτοκάλια.

Ελπίζω η νέα χρονιά να εχει για όλους μας ό,τι καλύτερο!!!

A few days before new year's entry I managed to find - at last - the time to create my new lucky charms for 2011 new year. Based on shabby - vintage style and the use of natural materials as spices, dried orange's slices and metal, clay, artificial romantic flowers, glass, ribbons and tassels on traditional Christmas colors.

 Κουμπαράδες (περίπου 10-12εκ ύψος) στους οποίους για το γούρι εχω ήδη βάλει μεσα λίγα κέρματα :)) ... εννοείται βέβαια οτι ειναι κέρματα των 2 ή 5 λεπτων του ευρώ

Το κλασικό μεταλλικό επιτοίχιο ρόδι και τα γυάλινα μπουκαλάκια, ρομαντικά και γεμισμένα με αρωματικά, κανέλες και μπαχαρικά. Νομίζω πάντως οτι μυριζουν σαν.... μελομακαρονα!!!

 Μεταλλικό πλατανόφυλλο με πρασινο και κόκκινο διάκοσμο

Fun things to do during Earth Hour
If you are not sure how you should be celebrating Earth Hour this year, here are some polite suggestions:
1.Invite your friends over for a candlelit dinner

2.Get those board games out and have some fun seeing how easily you can swap your scrabble counters in the dark!

3.Go for a walk. Lie down. Look up. In all of that which you'll then see, we only have the thing you're lying on to call home. Cherish it.

4.Do something "crafty" by candlelight: paint, mould, stick, knit, quilt, or paint...

5.Got kids? Get out the camping gear! Set up a tent and tell fantastical stories of a time when the earth had no artificial lights and strange things went more than just BUMP! in the dark...

....or plan a few harmless April Fool's Day pranks in advance.

6.Play a real game of hide & seek. Now there's a challenge doing it in the dark!

7.Take a nap - it's been a hard day and no-one will notice.

8.Hey - since your lights are off, it would seem like the perfect time to change any old bulbs for a few new energy saving ones? No?

9.Why not eat all the ice-cream that's sitting in your freezer? If you've turned your appliances off as well as your lights for Earth Hour, then it's going to melt anyway!

(How good is that for an excuse?!)

10.Check out your local Earth Hour site (there's a list of countries here - and see if there's a place near you that will get plunged into darkness at 8.30pm on the 27th!

Δημιουργική "Λογιστική"....

ή αλλιώς Συλλογή αποδείξεων με άποψη....

από την αρχή της χρονιάς μαζεύουμε μανιωδώς αποδείξεις αγορών και σε αυτο το χρονικό διάστημα ακούσαμε άπειρες συμβουλές για τον τροπο αποθήκευσης... Μαύρες σακούλες... ντοσιέ για να μη φθείρονται απο το φως... ειδικά αφιερώματα σε "εγκυρότατες" πρωϊνές εκπομπές που ο "λαός" παρακολουθεί με ορθανοικτα μάτια και... αυτιά :)))

Εγώ όμως έχω να σας δώσω μια άλλη λύση που διαθέτει το χιούμορ που απαιτείται για να αντιμετωπίσουμε το όλο θέμα με φαντασία... Ειναι οικονομική, προάγει την ανακύκλωση και επίσης θα σας δώσει την ευκαιρία να εκφραστείτε.

Το κουτί αυτό το εχει φτιαξει η αδελφή μου η Κική, οποία τα τελευταια 2 χρόνια έχει "αφιερωθει" στην τεχνη :) ... ζωγραφική, αγιογραφία, κολάζ, κατασκευή πάνινης κούκλας και έπεται συνεχεια... Ελπίζω αδελφούλα να μην ασχοληθείς και με το κόσμημα ή το γούρι και σε χάσω απο πελάτισα... συγκρατήσου, αρκετά!!!

Να πω επίσης οτι η Κική φτιάχνει εξαιρετικά γλυκά του κουταλιού και λικέρ... λιμοντσέλο, καρυδάκι, ρόδι ... ναι σωστά το καταλάβατε, είναι χρυσοχέρα.

Τα υλικα λοιπόν για το κουτί είναι πολύ απλά

α. Ένα οποιοδήποτε κουτί απο σκληρό χαρτόνι, η Κική χρησιμοποίησε ενα κουτί απο παπούτσια. Σύντομα βέβαια θα χρειαστεί και αλλο γιατί όπως βλεπετε το εχει ήδη γεμίσει ( μεγάλη καταναλώτρια)

β. Κόλλα - γιατί δεν εχει μεινει σάλιο!!!

γ. Σελίδες απο εφημερίδα ή οποιοδήποτε έντυπο με περιεχόμενο που μπορει να εκφράσει τα συναισθήματα σας.

Η Κική διάλεξε να "παίξει" με τα οικονομικά. Εσείς μπορείτε να διαλέξετε εικόνες απο ο,τιδήποτε ονειρευεστε να αγοράσeτε και ελπίζετε η απόδειξη αγοράς του να μπεί στο κουτί... μπορείτε επίσης να κολλήσετε ωραιότατες υβριστικές εκφράσεις...:) ή τις επιστολές των τραπεζών για τις υπερχρεωμένες πιστωτικές σας κάρτες... τιμολόγια που δε σκοπευετε να πληρώσετε...κ.α. Εκφραστείτε ελεύθερα!

New "tools" for making your own earwires :)

Well.... don't rush for new tools supplies....!!!

I am sure you have them already in your home :)
I am not recommend to use these "tools" for ever but if you wish to make your first attempt to make your own earwires is the cheapest and funny way to try and if you manage you can say... yuuppiii!!! now I can spend more money for real tools...!!!

These "tools" came up for me some day when I run out of handcrafted earwires that I usually purchase from etsy.com ..... and you know that feeling.. I need to make a new design now!!!!!
So I started to "fight" with some wire I had and every object that has cylinder shape in different sizes. Batteries, little bottles, caps etc.... First attempt was succeful :) then I purchased a hammer to strenght the wire and a tool that rounds the rough ends.

Μη σας παρασύρει ο τίτλος... και βιαστείτε να αγοράσετε καινουρια εργαλεία, τα εχετε σιγουρα στο σπιτι σας :) Και βεβαια δε τα συνιστώ για μόνιμη χρήση, αλλά για να κανω τις πρωτες μου δοκιμες με οικονομικό αλλα και διασκεδαστικό τροπο μια χαρά είναι!!!!

Η χρήση τους προεκυψε μια ημερα που ηθελα ντε καλά εκεινη τη στιγμη να φτιαξω ενα ζευγάρι σκουλαρικια αλλα τα χειροποιήτα εξαρτηματα που αγοραζω απο το etsy.com μου ειχαν τελειώσει.

Η ανάγκη λεει τεχνας κατεργάζεται... κοιταξα γύρω μου και νατα τα εργαλεία. Ευτυχως ειχα το βασικό!!! Σύρμα.... και μπαταρίες, και μαρκαδόρους και καπακια απο μπουκάλι κολονιας και ο,τι άλλο κυλινδρικο αντικειμενο μπορουσα να δω γυρω μου σε διαφορα μικρα μεγεθη.

Για αρχή μια χαρα τα κατάφερα, αγόρασα αμέσως το εργαλείο που στρογγυλεύει τις ακρες του σύρματος και το σφυράκι που "δυναμώνει" το συρμα και συνέχισα...

But I keep the best tool for the end... I wanted to flatten my earwires and I had no metal hammer or the steel bench.... mmm I looked around and I saw that heavy metal thing I have ONLY for decoration in my kitchen - I don't really know how we call it - to make the meat thinner. One more "tool" success :)))

Το καλύτερο ομως το κραταω για το τέλος... ήθελα θα δωσω στα σκουλαρίκια τη υφη του σφυρήλατου αλλα και να κανω το σύρμα τους σε ορισμενα σημεία πιο επίπεδο.... προβλημα... δεν εχω ουτε το καταλληλο μεταλλικο σφυρί ούτε το ατσάλινο "τουβλακι" . Ευτυχως ειχα στην κουζινα - μόνο για διακοσμηση - αυτο το βαρυ εργαλειο που χτυπαμε το κρεας :) και ενα ωραιο σχεδον επίπεδο βότσαλο... έκαναν πολυυυυυύ καλή δουλεια!!!!

Now I feel it's time not only to buy at last the proper tools but also to make my first earwires from sterling silver and gold

Τώρα βέβαια πρεπει να παρω και τα υπόλοιπα αληθινα εργαλεια αλλά και να αρχίσω να φτιαχνω τα δικα μου σκουλαρίλια από ασήμι και χρυσό.

New Year lucky Charms - Γούρια για το 2010

This winter I had so many things to do, so I was very late on creating new designs for 2010 Lucky Charms - Gouria as we call them in Greece.

I start creating my new designs a few days ago some of them are finished, some are still waiting to take photos and some of them are still waiting to dry ( they are made from air-drying clay) This year my inspiration is mostly from nature, cinnamon, tea herb, leaves, trees and of cource the typical symbols... evil's eye, horse shoe, garlic, pomegranate etc.

Φέτος ειχα πολλά να κάνω, με αποτέλεσμα να κανω λιγοτερα απο οσα ήθελα :) ... και βεβαια αργησα πολυ να ετοιμάσω και τα νεα σχεδια για τα Γουρια του 2010. Αλλά καλλιο αργα παρά ποτέ!!!... Άρχισα πριν απο λιγες μέρες.. εχω ακομη μερικά σχεδια που περιμενουν να τα φωτογραφισω και άλλα που επειδη εναι φτιαγμενα από πηλό περιμενουν να στεγνώσουν... μετα να τα βάψω ...

Για φέτος εχω εμπνευστεί πολύ απο τη φύση.. κανελλες.. τσαι του βουνου που μοσχοβολάει, φύλλα, δεντράκια και βεβαια εω χρησιμοποισει και ολα τα κλασσικα συμβολα, ματάκια, σκόρδα, πέταλα, ροδια κτλ
